What Solar Ban keeps, and why
The short version
Solar Ban is a personal dashboard for what changes across Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Databricks. The changes themselves are public. What is private is your layout, notes and (if you choose) your calendar and mail headers. There are no ads and no analytics, and nothing here is sold or shared.
Without an account
Your layout, notes, to-dos, watch list, links, theme and "handled" marks stay in this browser's storage. Nothing about them is sent anywhere.
With an account
When you sign in with an email link, Solar Ban stores your email address and one private record with the same things listed above, so they follow you between devices. Each record can be read and changed only by its owner. You can delete the account at any time in Settings, which removes the record, your Google connection and the account itself.
If you connect Google
Connecting is optional and read-only. Solar Ban asks for:
- Calendar events (read only), to show your next events on Home and open them in Google Calendar.
- Gmail message metadata (sender, subject, date and unread count). Message bodies are never requested.
Events and headers are fetched when you open the page and shown to you. They are not saved, logged or used for anything else. The only thing kept is an encrypted refresh token so you do not have to sign in to Google every time. "Disconnect Google" in Settings revokes it at Google and deletes it here.
Solar Ban's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
AI summaries
One-line summaries of the public announcements are written by an AI model (Gemini or Groq). Only the public text of each announcement is sent to them. No information about you is.
Where it runs
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Accounts and saved data are stored in Supabase. The daily refresh runs on GitHub Actions.
